Walter Thomas Francis Curtis

Before 1917, Walter Curtis (January 27, 1890 - May 21, 1973) moved from Maryland to Illinois and changed his ethnicity to Caucasian. In Illinois, he worked as an engineer and also was a prize fighter and Golden Gloves winner. Walter served in WWI in trench warfare along Eastern France. Eventually, Walter changed his name to Charles "Charlie" Walter Curtis. On May 16, 1919, Charlie married Margaret Elizabeth Alverta Whitworth. They had three children during their marriage, Olsene Albert Curtis (1919-1991), Alsace Lorraine (Curtis) Sorensen (1922-2000), and Lois Claire (Curtis) Engel (1925-2002).
