Cleopatra Marie Curtis

Cleo Curtis

Cleo is also the first African American woman in the Prince George's County, Maryland to own and operate a business. She opened Cleo's Restaurant in 1948. Later she expanded the business to include a Motel. Cleo owned this Cleo's Restaurant and Motel for over 60 years until she sold it in 2010. Cleo's establishment was frequented by many local politicians and leaders of Prince Georg'es County. She was written up several times in the Gazette, and the Washington. Cleo raised from birth Darcia Greenfield as her child. I would be remiss if I did not talk about Ms. Clemetine Greenfield a life-long friend of Cleo for over 70 years and Donald Mosley. Donald has been Cleo's constant companion for many years.
